However, he mentioned some districts in areas of risk of malaria transmission in the Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura areas as risk malaria.
"The API in some of these areas is more than two per thousand people. In some areas, the scenario is worse than more than ten," he said.
In fact, some districts in West Bengal were considered at risk areas where the API was two per thousand, he said.
"Some districts of Meghalaya and Tripura having borders with Bangladesh are also places where malaria is still a threat," Dhariwal said.
The overall situation in India, however, has improved over what it was over the last century, he said.
