How to keep weight: the creator "Biggest Loser" offers advice

Most weight loss plans focus on what happens in your belly, but JD Roth, one of the creators of "The Biggest Loser," says it all starts with your head.

"Your mind really does not want a piece of chocolate cake," Roth said today. "You've just been driving it over the years ... the only time you can be happy, it 's when you have the chocolate cake.

In the new series, "The Big Fat Truth", Roth works with overweight participants for 90 days to help them lose weight for good. The first episode features six former rivals of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" who collectively lost more than 630 pounds and regained all the weight, plus added even more. Last year, The New York Times reported an analysis of some of the competitors, revealing that it is difficult for people to lose weight and keep it because they are working against their own biology , With the body determined to give you back to your original weight by slowing down your metabolism and increasing your hunger. But Roth believes the article was unilateral because it did not take into account the emotional problems of some of the competitors on "The Biggest Loser" and did not include those who lost weight and weight loss. Have prevented.

Roth readily admits that he is not a scientist, doctor or nutritionist, but he believes that his weight loss and "television transformation" experience has helped him to better understand what Actually works when it is decreasing permanently.

Here are four elements of his philosophy:

1. You really carry the weight in your head and your body is the result.

"In my opinion, what people perceive as a suffering from hunger is really emotional pain.If you can reach the heart of this emotional breath, the body will follow ... your body is not synonymous with power Of your mind, "said Roth.

Roth believes that your subconscious rules most of your life and he thinks that the only thing that can make you happy is the chocolate cake, you will spend every millisecond each day trying to find the next slice.

Once you have made this connection, it is your job to break the pattern, "he noted. When you are satisfied and happy inside, your body will no longer need this chocolate cake.

2. Start breaking the emotional loop with simple things.

The best way to lose weight is to clean your room, advises Roth.

"People look at me like I was crazy," he said. "But you have to start with things really simple to regain control of your life."

The idea is that if you wake up in a cluttered room and the first thing you see, it is a chaos, you are putting yourself in check. Roth stayed in over 200 or 300 overweight rooms and found that they all looked like a stacked mail, baskets full of linen, a big goulash at the corner, unopened candies and food. "This is a micro abyss of what is going on in their minds," he said.

Roth recommends completely emptying your room, with the exception of a bed, a set of drawers and a chair to sit down.

"Now when your eyes open, the first thing you see is calm. This is the first step to convincing your subconscious that you do not need the chocolate cake, which you master Things, "he noted.

3. Eat a whole food, a vegetable diet

This is the best way to live a healthy life and prevent the disease, says Roth, calling it "food" as compared to medicine.

This means focusing on fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes, and skipping meat, dairy products and sugar. Roth, who follows this lifestyle himself, said that this was a pleasant surprise for the attendees of his show.

"Many people with whom I work are volume eaters, they live a huge amount of food," he noted. "So the beauty of being on a lifestyle based on the food factory is that I replace a large volume of food that is calorically dense but not nutritionally dense, with a giant volume of food that doesn ' 39 is not calorically dense but nutritionally dense ".

Dinner, for example, could include a lentil soup, a side of steamed asparagus and a bowl of quinoa with vegetables. Try this way of life in a limited way, he advised. Eat a daily meal herbal and ask yourself: how do you feel?

4. Make exercise a part of your life

Roth works seven days a week and is a great believer in physical fitness.

"This is the world's largest antidepressant. You can take a pill for something or you can put on a pair of shoes and take a walk, "he said.

But he does not think people should be obsessed with exercising or working for hours. Move every day, whether by taking stairs to work or walking, he advised.
