The CFIA remembers chicken products breaded maple leaves because of the possible toxin

Federal Health officials say Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is recalling various breaded chicken products because they may contain a toxin produced by the Staphylococcus bacteria

Food Inspection indicates that the products concerned were sold in Ontario and Quebec include Maple Leaf brand chicken breast bands in packages of 840 grams with a first order date of April 20, 2018.

Chicken burgers under the trademarks Sufra Halal and Mina Halal in packages of 828 grams are also recalled.

The CFIA says that food contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin may not resemble or not spoil and that the toxin produced by the bacteria is not easily destroyed at normal cooking temperatures.

Common symptoms of Staphylococcus poisoning include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and fever.

The CFIA says consumers with these recalled products should evict them or return them to the store where you bought them. No reported illness is associated with the consumption of these products.
