Aunt's cakes Jemima, waffles and toasts were recalled
If you or your children like Aunt Jemima's frozen waffles and pancakes, take a minute to check your freezer. Pinnacle Foods Inc. voluntarily recalls all "best by" dates from the following Aunt Jemima products because they may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, although no illness has been reported:
- Aunt Jemima's Turtles (including blueberry, oatmeal, whole grain, butter butter, Homestyle pancakes and Mini Lime Crisps Griddles Plain and Blueberry )
- Aunt Jemima Frozen French Toast Slices (including toasted bread and toasted bread)
- Aunt Jemima Frozen French Toast (including Homestyle, Buttermilk, Blueberry and Low-Fat Waffles) Toast Jemima French Toast & Sausage
- Hungry Man Selects Chicken and Waffles
"The products are being recalled as a precautionary measure given the health and safety of our consumers is our top priority," the company said on the recall page of the US Food and Drug Administration.
The affected products are removed from stores and syrup lovers can relax - the recall applies only to frozen products - it does not include dried aunt Jemima mixes or syrups.
Listeria can cause serious infections in young children, frail people or the elderly and other people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, nausea and diarrhea.
According to the recall, the products concerned may be returned for a full refund. For more information, read the full reminder.
